» Hi! How are you doing today?
» This is the last blog post from this series: HOT GIRL SUMMERTIME. This means…. that SUMMER IS ALMOST HERE!
» In this blog post, we are going to talk about the last topic: skincare summer routines. Are you ready?
» Again, remember that we are not specialists in these subjects. These are the results of our researches and personal choices. So, before you use any product, we recommend doing your research and, if possible, presenting your options to your doctor to make sure that everything is safe for you :)
» The warm days tend to expose more to the sun and we tend to look forward to getting out more, exposing our bodies to UV rays. Besides that, the summer can easily dry your skin between being exposed to the sunlight, the salt in the sea, and the chlorine from the pools.
So, for you to keep beautiful and healthy skin and enjoy your summer to the fullest, here are our advice for your summer skincare routine:
1. Protect your skin with SPF
To fully enjoy your time in the sun, while making sure that your skin is safe from the UV rays, the sunscreens with SPF are here to be your heroes. Sun damage can go from sunburns to long-term damages and all you need to prevent that is applying SPF daily, more than once during the day, and also not just in your face, but in your body too.
2. Hydration
We have talked about the benefits of drinking water a million times and summer skincare routines are no exception from it. This season can easily dry your skin due to its higher temperatures and also due to sun exposure, so drinking water is essential to keep your skin and your body hydrated.
This routine will help your body cleaning all the toxins that it may have, and it will also make your skin look soft and radiant. Also, in case you get a sunburn, hydration can help with the recovery from the sunburn.
3. Cleansing is your new best friend
If you were not a twice-a-day cleansing person already, then you should definitely become one now. Sweat and oil are the summer bad boys, and trust us when we tell you that starting a relationship with these is NOT a good idea. The warmer temperatures make our bodies produce more oil, making you feel uncomfortable with your skin and it can also lead to acne. To avoid all of that, cleansing in the morning, when you get out of bed, and at night, when you go to sleep, is essential to moisturize and clean your skin, allowing her to breathe.
4. Exfoliating sounds very good!
Dryness and dullness are the next bad boys that we NEED to fight during the summertime and exfoliating sounds like the perfect weapon against them. We recommend getting a face scrub that is validated, instead of making your face masks at home. However, if you have talked to your doctor about it and if he/she gave you full permission, then go for it.
This routine is a must to remove all the dead cells from your pores, helping your skin to be healthier and to look better.
5. The summer toner
The heat in the summer tends to open our pores and make our skins produce more oil, that will be accumulated in those open pores. This will very likely turn into acne and to avoid that toner with aloe vera or maybe cucumber can help by cleaning and closing the pores from your skin, preventing breakouts.
6. Multitasking with your moisturizer
Choosing a moisturizer with SPF to your summer skincare routine is all you need to keep your skin soft and moisturized by also keeping it safe from UV rays. What a perfect multitasking routine for summer, isn´t it? :)
We know that you might be thinking: “Why to moisturize when it is hot outside? Isn´t going to make my face feel oily?”. Not, it won´t if you choose the right moisturizer. The warm days tend to dry our skins so moisturizer will help to keep your skin smooth, hydrated, and soft.
7. Protect your skin
In our previous blog post, we recommended some summer hats that you can easily find and get for yourself. Hats will protect your scalp, ears, face, and other areas from ultraviolet rays.
You can also go for an Olivia Rodrigo’s look with a summer scarf. It is a light and easy way, ready to grab and perfect for a road trip. For more details on scarves, you can check our SPRING TRENS OF 2021: accessories edition.
When exposed to the sun, try to go under an umbrella, use sunglasses, prefer clothes that cover your skin, and use that gorgeous hat. And, of course, avoid the midday sun, especially if you have kids with you.
8. Avoid taking long showers
Between the beach and the pool, experts recommend cutting showers short and go for a 5 minutes quick shower.
The warm water can over-dried your skin and lead to inflammation or even summertime eczema.
9. Hi there Vitamin C serum
It is very important to use a Vitamin C serum to prevent hyperpigmentation during summer. Experts recommend using your Vitamin C serum between cleansing and moisturizer and only use a few drops.
10. Summer kiss
After talking about the special care that you need to take for your face, we must not forget to mention your lips. Summer dries your skin as much as your lips, so don’t forget to bring chapstick with you everywhere you go.
Also, in your night skincare routine, maybe try a creamy lip treatment to improve that soft and smooth look by moisturizing and hydrating them.
» And that is the end of this series: HOT GIRL SUMMERTIME. We hope that you loved this series as much as we do and, we also hope that you got more and more excited for summer like us. Let us know in the comments what are your thoughts about this series and if you want more blog posts like this.
